If after all this trouble and you still can't bypass the WGA validation and notifications, or you just find it a hassle to tweak for the workaround.
You can still get updates by using a third party auto updater, known as Autopatcher.

And if you're lost and still do not know what to do at that website. Just look for the May full and update downloads.
